Signal Boost: My Itinerary for the Singapore Writers Festival 2013

Signal BoostThe annual event for Singapore Writers has come upon us! This year, they’re belting out the theme, “Utopia/ Dystopia” and I’m quite overwhelmed with the line-up because the panel discussions look incredibly interesting. However, after a quick cut down and all that, here’s the list of events I’ll be going to.

Note: There will be events where you’ll need a Festival Pass (you can either buy them at SISTIC or at the event itself). I’ll mark these events with a (P) at the end of their respective titles.

1 November 2013

  • Renaissance/ Dark Ages (P)
    Time: 8:00-9:00PM
Venue: Binary Pavillion, Campus Green, SMU
Remarks: The opening panel, yeah pretty much.

2 November 2013

This panel looks great too, but I can’t be in two places at once: Get into your Discomfort Zone (P)

3 November 2013

  • Reading: Awake in Utopia
    Time: 10:00-11:00AM
    Venue: TCC, SMU

  • Lost in SEA? (P)
    Time: 12:00-1:00PM
    Venue: Seminar Room, NMS

  • Can Literature Do Good? (P)
    Time: 2:30-3:30PM
    Venue: The Salon, NMS

  • Once Upon a Singapore Story
    Time: 4:00-5:00PM
Venue: Earshot Cafe, The Arts House
Remarks: My short story, Do Your Magic, has been shortlisted for the open reading here. Come down and listen to other fairy tales with a Singaporean twist!

  • Maxine, Aoki, Beto & Me by Wena Poon
    Time: 7:00-8:00PM
Venue: Festival Pavillion, Campus Green, SMU
Remarks: It’s been a while since Wena’s been back so I’m excited for this one! Also, check out my review here.

These panels look great too, but I can’t be in two places at once: Unconventional Sleuths (P), Alternate Realities (P), “All Art is Quite Useless” (P), What Lies Beneath (P)

7 November 2013

9 November 2013

10 November 2013
